Agartala, 28th June 2025 : In a late-night operation on Friday, Amtali police apprehended an alleged drug peddler from his residence in the Madhya Charipara area following a tip-off.
The accused, identified as Surajit Sarkar, was found in possession of 16.9 grams of brown sugar—a banned narcotic substance. In addition to the drugs, police also recovered a mobile phone and ₹37,000 in cash from the premises.
Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, Himadri Sarkar, confirmed the arrest and stated that Surajit was produced before the court on Saturday with a request for police remand to facilitate further investigation.
