BY TC News Desk

Agartala, June 12, 2023: Ambasa sub-division faces growing concerns over drug trafficking, with the impact being felt by ordinary residents. The rise in drug addiction among the youth has driven some individuals to resort to theft. On June 6, a group of thieves targeted the Ambasa English Media Model School, making off with eleven ceiling fans, rods, tiles, water pea, and two CC cameras under the cover of darkness.

The following day, school staff discovered the burglary and promptly alerted the police. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and began investigating the incident. Thanks to the crucial evidence captured on CCTV cameras, authorities were able to identify and apprehend a notorious thief named Karthik Debbarma from Ambasa heartland on Monday. During the police interrogation, Karthik confessed to the theft, leading to the recovery of the stolen items.

Further investigation revealed that the electric fans had been distributed among five houses in the Hradayavasti area. Karthik admitted to selling each fan for a mere one hundred rupees. The police have intensified their efforts to apprehend the other individuals involved in the incident and are continuing their interrogations.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the grave consequences of drug trafficking, which has not only afflicted the community but also contributed to a surge in criminal activities. Authorities are working tirelessly to address these issues and ensure the safety and well-being of Ambasa’s residents.
