Agartala, 7th February 2026 : Mungiakami Police achieved another significant success in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive on Saturday. During routine naka checking at the 41 Mile Naka area along the National Highway, police intercepted a luxury Thar vehicle (without registration number) based on specific intelligence received by Officer-in-Charge Soner Debbarma.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, police recovered brown sugar cleverly concealed inside seven soap cases. In addition, a quantity of banned cough syrup was also seized. Three persons who were travelling in the vehicle were detained on the spot.
Following the incident, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Teliamura, Rohan Kishan, IPS, along with DCM Sandeep Debbarma, rushed to the spot and conducted an on-the-ground inspection of the operation.
Speaking to the media, SDPO Rohan Kishan, IPS stated that during preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed that the contraband was being transported from Meghalaya to Tripura. He added that the involvement of a larger drug trafficking network cannot be ruled out. A detailed and thorough investigation is underway, and strict legal action will be taken against all those involved.
Police officials further informed that to curb the illegal flow of narcotics in the state, naka checking and special anti-drug operations will be intensified in the coming days.
The successful operation by Mungiakami Police has been widely appreciated, with members of the public and conscious citizens expressing relief and confidence in the proactive role of the police administration.
