Agartala, 28th September 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intermittent rainfall and thundershowers across Tripura during this year’s Durga Puja festivities. A special weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre in Agartala has placed the state under a yellow alert from September 28 to October 2, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
According to the bulletin, heavy showers are expected in Dhalai district on September 27, accompanied by thundershowers and lightning across several parts of the state. On September 28, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely in many areas. The forecast for September 30 indicates widespread rainfall across Tripura, with heavy showers measuring 7 to 11 cm expected in isolated locations of West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South districts, along with thunderstorms and lightning in most districts. Similar conditions are expected on October 1 and 2, with moderate rainfall across many areas and heavy downpours in the same four districts.
The IMD has advised the public, as well as puja organisers, to exercise caution and adopt safety measures during the festival. While the showers may bring some relief from the prevailing humidity, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety. Local administrations have also been directed to remain prepared for any disruptions caused by adverse weather during the celebrations.
