Agartala, 14th December 2024: Demonstrating their strength, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) organized a protest march on Saturday evening in Bishalgarh. The march, based on three key demands, was initiated by the Bishalgarh Divisional Committee and took place in Madhupur Bazar.
The protest saw the participation of prominent leaders including DYFI State Committee Secretary Nabarun Deb, Bishalgarh Divisional Committee Secretary Hiranya Narayan Debnath, former student leader Partha Pratim Majumdar, Divisional President Pronoy Sinha, and TYF Divisional Leader Swapan Debbarma, among others. The march began at Madhupur Bazar, proceeded through Madhupur Hospital Chowmuhani, and concluded at Madhupur West Bazar, where the leaders delivered speeches.
The primary demands of the protest included the creation of employment opportunities in the state, the re-establishment of the rule of law, and taking a proactive stance against drug abuse. Addressing the gathering, DYFI State Committee Secretary Nabarun Deb stated, “The people of the state are suffocating under the current regime. The youth are drowning in addiction, and despite the unstable environment in Bangladesh, some ruling party leaders are continuing their smuggling activities through the border areas.”
Deb further accused the current government of deceiving the people of the state. “The double-engine government has failed to provide employment opportunities for the state’s unemployed. To combat the drug trafficking trade and save the youth, DYFI will continue its movement,” he asserted.
The leaders also criticized the BJP government on various issues, highlighting the need for immediate action. The significant presence of youth in the march was noteworthy, reflecting their support for the cause.
The protest march highlighted the growing discontent among the youth and the urgent need for the government to address their demands. The leaders vowed to persist in their efforts to bring about positive change in the state.
