Agartala, 15th March 2026: Democratic Youth Federation of India state leaders today launched a strong attack on the ruling government in Tripura, alleging that the past eight years under the Bharatiya Janata Party administration have been marked by lawlessness, corruption, violence against opposition voices and deterioration in public services.
Addressing a press conference, DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb alleged that the promises made by the BJP before coming to power had failed to materialize and that the younger generation had witnessed what he described as “eight years of deceit and conspiracy.”
He claimed that democratic values and social harmony had weakened during the period, alleging repeated attacks on opposition activities, including blood donation camps, and saying that permission for organising such camps had been denied despite shortages in hospitals. Deb also alleged that the state was witnessing simultaneous lawlessness and growing social division.
Raising concerns over public services, he said Tripura continues to face shortages of teachers, doctors and nurses, affecting both education and healthcare sectors. He further alleged that narcotics were entering the state through railway routes and criticised the government over the lack of arrests in connection with the attack and arson at the office of Desher Katha.
Deb also accused sections of the government of corruption and demanded accountability from ministers allegedly linked to controversies.
Speaking at the same press conference, DYFI state President Palash Bhowmik described the BJP’s eight-year rule as “Eight Years of Ruin for Tripura,” alleging that since March 3, 2018, the state has entered a period of hardship for ordinary citizens. He claimed that people had repeatedly been deceived and deprived, and alleged that Tripura had witnessed a disturbing rise in human trafficking cases.
Bhowmik further alleged that 26 party workers had been killed over the past eight years and said the organisation would take its political message directly to the people through a written campaign.
DYFI leaders Puja Rishi Das and Pallavi also called for the removal of the BJP government, saying political change was necessary in the interest of the people.
