ECI Announces By-Election to 56 Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency in Tripura; Polling on April 9

Agartala, 15th  March 2026:   The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the by-election to the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency in Tripura. Polling for the seat will be held on April 9, according to the official schedule released by the Commission.

As per the notification, the official gazette notification for the by-election will be issued on March 16, marking the formal beginning of the election process.

The last date for filing nominations has been fixed for March 23, while the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on March 24. Candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations until March 26.

Polling is scheduled to be conducted on April 9, and the counting of votes will take place on May 4. The Election Commission stated that the entire election process will be completed before May 6.

The by-election is being conducted to fill the vacant seat in the state legislative assembly. With the schedule now announced, political parties and prospective candidates are expected to begin preparations and finalize their nominees for the contest.

Election authorities are likely to put in place necessary arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful polling across the constituency.
