Agartala, 29th January 2026: A 75-year-old man was tragically killed after being run over by a train traveling from Sabroom to Agartala this morning. The incident took place near Santirbazar railway station.
According to reports, the man was struck by the train while on the tracks and died instantly at the scene. Fire service personnel from Santirbazar rushed to the spot upon receiving information and later sent the body to Santirbazar District Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The deceased has been identified as Laxman Baidya, a resident of Gardhang area under Santirbazar subdivision. News of the incident cast a pall of grief over the locality.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the death. Authorities are probing whether it was a case of suicide or an accident caused by negligence.
