Agartala, 21st April 2025:   Khowai District Hospital has been grappling with a major setback as electricity services were cut off this morning, leaving critical departments, including dialysis, inoperable. Patients and their families are voicing their frustrations, alleging a lack of action from both hospital authorities and the electricity corporation.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a patient’s relative revealed, “For the past few days, electricity has been going out in the morning, leading to a severe crisis in the dialysis ward. Patients scheduled for dialysis have no choice but to wait outside the ward for hours. It’s been agonizing—for them and for us as their families.”

The absence of functioning dialysis services has led to significant distress among patients, many of whom rely on timely treatment for their survival. According to multiple accounts from relatives, some patients are waiting two to three hours for service, only to find no resolution.

“Whenever we inform the hospital authorities, they seem indifferent. They promise to address the issue, but no action has been taken so far,” lamented another family member. “We even attempted to reach out to the electricity corporation directly, but nothing has changed. This lack of coordination is making an already difficult situation unbearable.”

Efforts to contact hospital representatives for a comment remained unsuccessful at the time of reporting. Families are urging immediate intervention to restore electricity and ensure the smooth functioning of critical services like dialysis, as patient health hangs in the balance.

The ongoing outage highlights the urgent need for better infrastructure and responsive management in healthcare facilities. With electricity vital to patient care, the hospital must act swiftly to prevent further disruptions.
