Expired Food Items Found at V-Mart in Dharmanagar, Sparks Tension Among Shoppers

Agartala, 5th December 2025: Tension erupted at the V-Mart shopping mall in Dharmanagar’s Rajbari area after allegations surfaced regarding the sale of expired food items.

The incident came to light on Friday when a vigilant customer discovered that a packet of dates he purchased from the store was completely spoiled. Upon checking the label, he realized that the product had expired long ago.

The customer immediately returned to V-Mart and inspected other packets of the same item, only to find that most of them were also expired. According to him, it wasn’t just the dates—expired products were reportedly found across multiple sections of the shopping mall.

The situation soon escalated into a heated argument between the customer and the store staff. “It is extremely irresponsible for such a large retail brand to keep expired items on their shelves. This poses serious health risks, especially for children and the elderly,” the customer said.

Local residents expressed strong dissatisfaction after the incident. They emphasized that big retail chains must be more vigilant in monitoring their stock to maintain customer trust. The discovery has created significant unrest in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, V-Mart authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the allegations. The customer urged all buyers to carefully check the manufacturing and expiry dates before purchasing any product.
