Agartala, 8th September 2026 : Tension has gripped South Jubarajnagar under Dharmanagar police station following allegations that expired medicines meant for children were distributed at an Anganwadi centre in Ward No. 1 of South Yubarajnagar under Jubarajnagar Gram Panchayat.
Parents and local residents have expressed serious concern over the alleged lapse, particularly because the medicines were reportedly distributed among children.
According to the parents, on September 5, guardians of children enrolled under the Anganwadi centre in South Jubarajnagar Ward No. 1 were called to the centre, where medicines meant for the children were distributed. However, after checking the expiry dates printed on the medicine bottles, the parents allegedly found that the medicines had already expired.
The distribution reportedly took place in the presence of MPW Manish Nath of the Mangal Khali Sub-Centre, local ASHA worker Kairun Nessa and Anganwadi worker Mampi Debnath.
Following the discovery, concern and anxiety spread among the children’s parents. One parent reportedly posted a message in the Anganwadi centre’s official WhatsApp group, warning others not to administer the expired medicines to their children.
The parents further alleged that despite the issue coming to light, no immediate response was received from the concerned MPW or Anganwadi workers.
The allegation has raised questions over the responsibility and supervision of the health department and other concerned personnel involved in distributing medicines to children. Local residents have demanded a proper investigation into the incident and sought appropriate departmental action against those found responsible.
