Agartala, 5th July 2025:  An exposure visit to the Dukli Industrial Estate was successfully organized by the Departments of Commerce and the Department of Economics, Bir Bikram Memorial College, Agartala in collaboration with the college’s Placement Cell on July 02 last. This insightful trip provided an invaluable practical learning opportunity for approximately one hundred students from both the Commerce and Economics departments, as well as those pursuing an IMD in Commerce. Faculty members from various departments also actively participated, guiding and supporting the students throughout the visit.

The core objective of the visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom knowledge and the practical realities of industrial operations. Students had the unique opportunity to explore more than 10 small-scale industries within the industrial estate. This direct interaction allowed them to gain first-hand understanding of the diverse aspects involved in setting up and running an industry, from initial planning to operational execution.

A particularly impactful aspect of the visit was the live demonstrations of production processes. Witnessing how local factors of production are utilized to create goods deeply motivated the students. This practical insight encouraged them to consider entrepreneurial ventures upon completing their degree programs, transforming them from potential job seekers into aspiring job creators.

The exposure visit effectively illustrated the real-world application of concepts learned in their academic curriculum. Students were able to connect their classroom knowledge with practical scenarios, understanding how this knowledge can be leveraged to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the local economy. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among the youth and equipping them with the skills and inspiration to become successful innovators and business owners.

Beyond understanding industrial operations, a crucial aspect of the visit focused on environmental protection through waste material reuse in recycling industries. Students observed how value addition from solid waste management not only creates employment opportunities but also contributes significantly to environmental preservation. This demonstrated a clear path towards sustainable development, showcasing how economic growth can align with ecological responsibility.

The exposure visit proved to be an enriching experience, allowing students to connect their classroom learning with real-world applications. It highlighted how their acquired knowledge can be instrumental in generating employment and fostering a more sustainable future. This initiative effectively motivated students to think innovatively and consider their role in contributing to both economic development and environmental well-being.
