Agartala, September 01, 2023: After opening fair price outlets for selling of onions in four markets of Agartala city, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department had inaugurated an outlet at Ranirbazar Vegetable shed under Jirania sub-division on Friday.
The Food department’s Director Nirmal Adhikari inaugurated the outlet for onions in presence of Jirania SDM Shanti Ranjan Chakma, philanthropist Gouranga Bhowmik and Food department official Subrata Saha and others.
Speaking to media persons here, Adhikari said “Seeing the price hike of onions in various markets of the Agartala city, Food department has taken initiative of opening fair price shops for selling of onions in a subsidized rates.”
“Accordingly, we have opened fair price outlets at Maharaj Ganj Bazar which is also known as ‘Gol’ Bazar, followed by opening of shops at Battala and Lake Chowmuhani bazars and then at Ration Shop no.61, Pragati Road in the Agartala city.”
“Now, we have taken initiative to open at Ranirbazar. This initiative has been taken so that the consumers get a relief from the price hike of onions in the open markets. However, with the opening of these markets, the price of onions per kilogram in the open market has declined to a certain extent”, Food department’s Director told reporters.
It is worthy to mention here that the onions per kilogram at Ranirbazar will be sold at Rs 35 per kilogram.
