Agartala, 13th November 2024:   In a shocking incident, a young man posing as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TT) was apprehended by the Manu Government Railway Police (GRP) while attempting to carry out ticket checks on an Agartala-bound train from Dharmanagar.

The accused, identified as Hussain Ali, hails from Deorachra in Kailashahar.

Hussain Ali reportedly boarded the train on Wednesday dressed as a TT, complete with a uniform, nameplate, and official-looking diary, items allegedly provided by an unknown circle he connected with via social media. While checking passengers’ tickets, he went so far as to collect fines from several travelers who lacked valid tickets. However, suspicions arose among the passengers when Hussain failed to issue any receipts for the fines collected.

Alerted by the passengers, the GRP at Manu station confronted Hussain, discovering his credentials were fake. Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that Hussain had only started his ‘job’ that day, having been recruited through a social media connection. According to Hussain, he believed he was genuinely hired as a TT and was provided with all necessary items by his recruiter.

The GRP has detained Hussain and launched a thorough investigation to uncover the origins of the recruitment and identify the culprits behind this operation. The case has raised concerns over the potential risks of fraudulent activities being organized through social media.
