Agartala, 17th May 2026: A family in the Satdobya village under Sidhai police station has allegedly been brutally attacked by influential neighbors for marrying their son to a woman from a different caste. The victims have accused the police of inaction despite filing a written complaint.
The attack took place yesterday evening in the North Chechuria area of Satdobya village. The victims — Putul Sarkar, her son Titu Sarkar, and his wife Saraswati Taati were reportedly set upon by a group of neighbors armed with sticks.
The accused have been identified as Montu Sarkar, Santu Sarkar, Sajal Sarkar, Nihar Sarkar, and Munna Sarkar all residents of the same locality.
According to the complaint, the attackers stormed the premises of Putul Sarkar and launched a brutal assault on the family. The reason for the attack, as alleged by the victims, was the marriage of Titu Sarkar to Saraswati Taati, who hails from another area an act that reportedly angered the influential neighbor group.
The injured family members have suffered serious injuries and are undergoing treatment. While a written complaint has been lodged at Sidhai police station, the affected family has accused the police of remaining inactive, sparking anger and frustration among them.
