Agartala, 7th January 2025:  The elder brother’s wife has filed a police case against her sister-in-law for various anti-social activities. The incident took place in Ward No. 6 of Shubhapur Gram Panchayat under Sonamura Police Station involving two brothers Al-Mas Mia and Yunus Mia.

Al-Mas Mia, known for his religious devotion, has been facing continuous disturbances due to the behavior of his younger brother Yunus Mia’s wife, Sahana Begum. Despite building a fence to separate their homes, Al-Mas Mia claims he cannot live in peace. Yunus Mia, a tiler by profession, suffered an accident that significantly reduced his earning capacity. Consequently, his wife, Sahana Begum, has allegedly created a hostile environment, targeting Al-Mas Mia’s family with obscene abuses.

The situation escalated on January 4, 2025, when Sahana Begum reportedly began beating her husband, Yunus Mia, inside their home. In distress, Yunus Mia called his elder brother for help. Upon arrival, Al-Mas Mia and his wife, Shahnaz Begum, were met with vulgar language from Sahana Begum. A physical altercation ensued between Shahnaz Begum and Sahana Begum, along with her daughter, Nasrin Akhtar. It is alleged that Sahana Begum and her daughter severely beat Shahnaz Begum and forcibly took gold jewelry from her.

“We have been living in fear and distress due to the continuous harassment. My brother’s wife has made our lives unbearable with her actions,” said Al-Mas Mia.

The local community has also expressed confusion and helplessness over the situation, unable to intervene effectively.

In response to the incident, a written case was filed today at Sonamura Police Station against Al-Mas Mia, his wife Shahnaz Begum, Yunus Mia’s wife Sahana Begum, and her daughter Nasrin Akhtar. The police are investigating the matter to determine the appropriate course of action.
