Family feud over land sparks violence in Uttar Padmabil Panchayat

By TC News Desk

Agartala, 4th October 2025 :  Tensions flared once again in the Uttar Padmabil Gram Panchayat area on Saturday afternoon following a long-standing family dispute over ancestral land and property. The conflict took a violent turn when two brothers allegedly launched a surprise attack on their elder brother’s family.

Reportedly, Basar Uddin and Nizam Uddin forcibly entered the home of their elder brother, Sapor Uddin, during his absence and assaulted his wife, daughter, and son. All three sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby health centre for treatment.

The alleged motive behind the attack was a claim that Sapor Uddin’s goat had damaged the vegetable garden belonging to the two brothers. However, family sources suggest this was merely a pretext, pointing to a simmering land dispute that has plagued the family for years. Witnesses say the argument escalated rapidly on Saturday, culminating in a brutal physical assault.

Local police have launched an investigation based on the family’s complaint. The accused brothers are currently absconding, and law enforcement has increased patrols in the area to maintain order.

Residents say the family feud has been ongoing for a long time and believe that earlier intervention by authorities might have prevented the situation from spiraling into violence.
