Agartala: May 04. A family who is a CPIM supporter living in the Chanmari area under the 6-Agartala Assembly Constituency has threatened to sit in a dharna in front of the resident of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha if he and the police fails to stop the violence which the family is facing since the declaration of Assembly election results on March 02.

Speaking on the issues, Debasish Barman who is a CPIM supporter and also contested Civic Body election has alleged that since the declaration of Assembly election results on March 02, he and his family members are coming under constant attack by alleged BJP-backed miscreants.

“Yesterday night at around 12.30 AM, BJP-backed miscreants including Corporator of Ward Number 6, Mithun Das Baisnab launched an unprovoked attack on my house. Soon after the results of the Assembly election were declared every day they are carrying out the attacks. They have launched a series of attack on my house. There is no environment in the area to live peacefully. They have created an environment of fear psychosis. They have continued pelting stones, using slang language on us. How we can live with children, and women at night”, he said.

Debasish claimed that on April 28 he has written a letter to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha describing the incident and hoped that such a situation would be stopped.

“But even after the letter was given they have continued their violence in the area and on my house too. Today we have come in the NCC police station and filed a case against the criminals demanding to arrest the culprits. If our demands are not met we will sit in a dharna in front of the residence of the Chief Minister”, he said.

He said that as he and his family members are CPIM supporters and he was also a candidate CPIM during the municipal election, the BJP miscreants carried out the attacks.
