Agartala, 14th May 2025: A long-standing demand for improved connectivity has finally been met as construction begins on a four-kilometer road from Tula Mura Bazar to Dhuptali. The road had remained a walking path since 1947, is now set for a major transformation under the current government’s initiative.
With an allocation of Rs 8.72 crore, the project aims to make the route accessible to vehicles, significantly benefiting approximately 15,000 to 20,000 residents across Tula Mura Gram Panchayat, Purba Tula Mura Gram Panchayat and Dhuptali ADC Village. The construction entrusted to the Kakraban Public Works Department commenced on January 25, 2025 and is expected to be completed within 450 days.
Local farmer Sunil Chandra Debnath, a resident of Tula Mura expressed his joy over the development. “For decades, we struggled to transport our produce using bicycles or carts. Now, paddy, rice, and vegetables can reach the market efficiently by car. This will immensely help us farmers,” he said.
The improved road is also expected to ease emergency transportation. “Earlier, patients had to be carried in distress. Now, ambulances can swiftly reach hospitals, which is a great relief for the community,” Debnath added.
Officials, including Partha Pratim Debnath from the Kakraban Public Works Department have assured timely execution of the project, much to the satisfaction of local residents, who have lauded the government’s initiative for prioritizing infrastructure development in the area.
