Agartala, 7th June 2024: A tragic accident took place on Friday afternoon when a person was hit by a train on the West Muhuripur rail line in the Santirbazar subdivision. The incident took place around 12:30 PM, involving a train traveling from Agartala to Sabroom.
The victim, identified as 62-year-old Nikhil Nandi from Pilak Jangalia Para, was reportedly out for work when the accident happened. Report of his death spread later in the afternoon, casting a pall of grief over the community.
Baikhora police quickly responded to the scene upon receiving reports of the incident. Officers recovered Nandi’s body and transported it to Jolaibari Community Healthcare Center for a post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death remains unclear and the Baikhora police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Nikhil Nandi’s untimely demise has left the entire area in mourning, as residents grapple with the sudden loss of a well-known community member.
