Father-in-Law Accused of raping Daughter-in-Law in Sonamura

Agartala, 14th April 2025:  A sensational case of alleged rape has rocked the 6th Ward area of Telkajla Gram Panchayat under Sonamura Subdivision, where a father-in-law has been accused of raping his daughter-in-law.According to sources, the accused, identified as Mukhles Mia, is alleged to have been involved in an act of sexual violence against his daughter-in-law. A case has been registered against him at the Sonamura Police Station today.

As per available information, Mofiz Mia, the husband of the victim and son of the accused, is currently residing in Chennai. In his absence, his wife and their two minor children were living at their ancestral home along with his father, Mukhles Mia.It is alleged that on Sunday night, Mukhles Mia mixed sedatives into a cold beverage and made his daughter-in-law consume it. Later, he allegedly raped her. Strangely, reports mention that the victim managed to inform her parental family about the incident on Monday morning, raising questions about the exact timeline and circumstances.

Following this, a formal complaint was lodged at the Sonamura Police Station. The incident quickly became the talk of the region, sparking widespread outrage among locals. Residents are now demanding the harshest possible punishment for the accused.Police officials have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
