Agartala, 27th   November 2025:  Residents of Gokulnagar’s Madhya Para under Bishalgarh police station are living in constant fear as a spate of thefts has shaken the locality.

Recently, valuables including gold and silver ornaments were stolen from the home of Ruma Debnath. During police interrogation, a youth named Rajib Das reportedly confessed to the crime. However, before he could be handed over to authorities, he managed to escape from the grasp of local residents.

Following the incident, police detained Rajib’s father Ranjib Das along with a neighbor Suman Bhowmik. Several gold ornaments were also recovered during the operation.

Despite the arrests, frustration runs high among locals, who have openly vented anger against the police, accusing them of failing to ensure safety in the area.
