Agartala, 7th March 2024 : The third state-level Gajaraj festival, a two-day event to raise awareness about the environment and wildlife conservation, was inaugurated by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy at Chandrapur High Girls’ School in Udaipur on Thursday. The minister stressed the importance of protecting forests and wild animals to maintain the ecological balance and said it was the duty of everyone to safeguard nature.
The festival, which showcases the elephant as a symbol of the state’s heritage, also featured speeches by MLA Jitendra Majumdar, MLA Abhishek Debroy, PCCF Dr AM Kanphade, and other dignitaries. They urged the public to join hands in preventing forest destruction and ensuring the well-being of all animals and birds. The event was attended by Gomati District District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma, Acting President of Gomati Zilla Parishad Debal Debroy, district forest officer Harekrishna Vignesh, and officials from various departments.
