Agartala, 22nd February 2026:   A devastating fire has damaged several rooms of the century-old BKI School, destroying CCTV hard drives, important documents, and educational materials. Initial estimates suggest losses of around three lakh rupees.

Witnesses reported smoke suddenly emerging from one section of the school building. The fire department was immediately alerted, and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. By then, however, furniture, key papers, and electronic equipment in multiple rooms had already been reduced to ashes.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit, though officials have launched a full inquiry to determine the exact cause.

School authorities expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that the destruction of the CCTV hard disk has erased crucial surveillance data. While no casualties were reported, the damage has sparked widespread grief and anxiety in the local community.
