Fisheries College holds state-level interface meet with FPOs

Agartala, November 24, 2022: The MTTC and VTC, College of Fisheries, CAU (lmphal) at Lembucherra organized a state-level interface meet with the Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) on Thursday aiming to understand the activities of FPOs/FPCs w.r.t. commodity dealing with ‘form of sale/ processed form of the commodity’, ‘amount invested for setting up of the unit’, ‘tum over’, ‘facilities’, ‘marketing’, ‘availability of raw materials’, different managerial issues etc.

The participants in the programme included Members, Board of Directors and Executives of FPOs/FPCs of Tripura, representatives from College of Agriculture, ICAR Institutes and KVKs. Dr A D Upadhyay, Associate Professor welcomed all the dignitaries and participants.

In his presidential address, Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, CoF, Lembucherra stated the importance of the programme and informed the house that the CAU (Imphal) has been approved to be an Implementing Agency in promotion of FPOs /FPCs in NER and thanked hon’ble Vice Chancellor of CAU (Imphal), Dr. Anupam Mishra for his support.

Anil Purohit, DGM, NABARD, Tripura RO graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and emphasized the key roles of NABARD in promotion of FPOs /FPCs and also interacted with the participating members from different FPOs/FPCs.A Special Invited lecture was delivered by Sudip Majumder, MD, Bagma Agri Producer Company Ltd. and shared the success stories in association with different financial and supporting institutions.

At the end of the deliberation, Dr Amitava Ghosh, Assistant Professor of this College presented the key issues discussed, and confirmed by the participating members. Dr. Biswajit Lahiri, Head, Department of FEES proposed the formal vote of thanks.The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ashok Chhetri, Assistant Professor, MTTC & VTC of the college.
