Agartala, 6th January 2024: Four people were injured in two separate accidents due to fog in Dharmanagar town on Friday night. They are undergoing treatment at the North District Hospital in Dharmanagar.
The first accident occurred around 8:30 pm near the ISBT bus stand in Dharmanagar, when a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a motorcycle. The auto-rickshaw, bearing registration number TR 05T 1552, was coming from Bagbasa to Dharmanagar, while the motorcycle, bearing registration number TR 05e 7720, was going from Dharmanagar to Bagbasa. The impact of the collision was so severe that both the vehicles were badly damaged.
The motorcycle rider, Ayush Chakraborty, 18, of Bari Thana Road, and his pillion rider, Dwigvijay Das, 17, of Bari Chandrapur, sustained serious injuries in the accident. They were rescued by the fire brigade personnel and rushed to the North District Hospital. The auto-rickshaw driver, however, managed to escape from the spot after the accident.
The second accident occurred after 10:30 pm on the bridge of Indian Oil over the river Juri, where a motorcycle and two people were found lying on the road. The fire department received a report about the accident and sent a team to the spot. They rescued the two injured persons, identified as Gaurang Dev, 42, of Kakri Par Ward No. 22, and Biswajit Malakar, 30, of Jabir Par Ward No. 22, along with the motorcycle, bearing registration number TR 05 C 6954. They were also taken to the North District Hospital with injuries in their legs and hands. They are said to be in critical condition.
The police have registered cases in both the accidents and are investigating the causes and circumstances of the accidents. The police suspect that the foggy weather and poor visibility might have contributed to the accidents. The police have also appealed to the drivers and riders to be careful and cautious while driving in the foggy conditions.
The town of Dharmanagar has been experiencing dense fog and cold weather for the last few days, which has affected the normal life and traffic in the area. The residents have been advised to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary travel in the fog.
