Agartala, 17th November 2025: The North District Forest department has once again demonstrated its vigilance and success in curbing illegal trade in forest resources. Acting on specific intelligence, officials of the Dharmanagar sub-division launched a special operation today at around 6:30 am led by Range Officer Supriya Debnath.

The raid was conducted simultaneously across multiple locations under the Churaibari Forest Beat, including Churaibari, Phulbari, and Laxminagar. After hours of intensive search, forest personnel recovered approximately 175 feet of sawn teak wood. In addition, two high-speed autos bearing registration numbers TR05A-2597 and TR05-4375 were seized on suspicion of transporting illegal forest produce. A large quantity of cut agarwood was found stored inside the vehicles.

The operation was supported by foresters from Churaibari, Lalchhara, Bagbasa, Shanichhara, Panisagar and Juri beats, along with other forest staff. The coordinated action created a wave of awareness and tension across the region.

Speaking to media personnel, Ranger Supriya Debnath estimated the black-market value of the seized teak wood at nearly Rs 3 lakh. He affirmed that similar operations will continue in the coming days to curb illegal trade and smuggling of forest resources.

This success by the North District Forest Department not only plays a vital role in protecting the environment but also serves as a stern warning to those engaged in unlawful timber and agarwood trade.
