Agartala, 23rd September 2024: Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma inaugurated the much-anticipated fernarium, orchidarium and three renovated log huts at Ambassa Ecopark. The event was organized by the Ambassa Forest Department in presence of former MLA and BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, Ambassa Municipal Council Chairperson Gopal Sutradhar, Zonal Chairman Prem Lal Malasam and PCCF RK Samal.
Minister Debbarma expressed his enthusiasm for the new additions stating, “The fernarium and orchidarium will serve as educational resources for local students and a major attraction for tourists. The renovated log huts will enhance the overall appeal of Ambassa Ecopark, making it a must-visit destination.”
The ceremony also highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering local communities. Five self-help groups were awarded checks of one lakh rupees each from the revolving fund, aimed at promoting self-reliance through mushroom cultivation. “This initiative is part of our broader strategy to support self-help groups and foster economic independence,” said Minister Debbarma.
He further elaborated on the Forest Department’s efforts, “We are taking various initiatives to protect our forest resources. Training programs are being conducted to educate people on sustainable resource management. The fernarium and orchidarium are the first of their kind in the state, and we plan to replicate this model across Tripura.”
