Agartala, October 15: Dr. Dilip Das, who was the MLA of 4-Barjala assembly constituency for five consecutive years from 2018 to 2023, admitted the underdevelopment of his area at a health and public awareness camp organized by Ward No. 4 on Sunday. He said that the Goalabasti area of his constituency is so underdeveloped in terms of roads, education and economy that it is said to be untouched by good governance.

Dr. Das, who is now known as the former MLA, said that he went to the Legislative Assembly wearing a suit coat for five long years, but he could not turn the tide. He said that he organized the health camp to reach out to the people with government support and to provide them with the right service. He also expressed his regret for not being able to develop the Goalabasti area in the last five years, which might have cost him his seat.

Political experts in the area believe that the result of the 2023 election was inevitable, as various complaints have been raised in the area in the last five years, but the voice did not reach the assembly. They said that after 2018, the image of the left did not change in the area.

The mega health camp, which was held at New Hindi Higher Secondary School, was also attended by Mayor Dipak Majumdar, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and others. The mayor praised the initiative and said that after 2018, health services have improved a lot in the state. He claimed that the tendency to refer patients outside has decreased. The guests later visited the health camp and interacted with the people.
