Agartala, 25th April 2026: SDPO Rakesh Das and NC Director Prasad Roy Bhadrapa visited Tripura, underscoring the Central Government’s continued focus on the development of the North-Eastern region. During their visit, they inspected an agar plantation site in the Phulbari area under the Kadamtala Assembly constituency in North Tripura district, along with the agar processing unit at Mamon Enterprises.
The officials were accompanied by the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Kadamtala, along with administrative personnel and forestry staff from Lal Chara and Churaibari.
At a formal ceremony, the foundation stone for a new agar processing project in Kadamtala was laid. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted that the agar industry remains one of Tripura’s most promising sectors, contributing significantly to employment generation for local youth.
They noted that both the State and Central governments are working in coordination to ensure the sector’s comprehensive growth. Various government schemes are being implemented to support modern infrastructure for agar cultivation, processing, and marketing.
The officials also expressed optimism that the expansion of the agar industry would play a vital role in boosting the overall economic development of the North-Eastern region. Discussions during the visit focused on future industry plans, export opportunities, and enhancing financial self-reliance among farmers.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, reflecting strong community interest in the sector’s growth prospects.
