Date:

Agartala,  13th  October 2026 :  Police have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the smuggling of banned cough syrup after recovering 143 bottles of ‘Escof’ from an auto-rickshaw at Madhuban College Chowmuhani under Sonamura Police Station.

The seizure was made during a late-night operation on Monday. Police also confiscated Rs 1,330 in cash, several smartphones and documents from the auto-rickshaw bearing registration number TR-07B-2981. The driver and another person were initially detained, while two more alleged associates were subsequently arrested based on information gathered during the investigation.

The four accused were produced before a court, which granted three days of police custody for interrogation. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
