Agartala, 25th August 2024:   East Agartala Police Station made significant progress in a theft case over the weekend, arresting four individuals, including two notorious thieves, Dipankar Shukla Das and Arup Das. The arrests followed a series of operations in the area adjacent to Sadhu Tila.

On Saturday, police seized a suspicious vehicle that was found to contain iron bridge plates. When questioned, the driver and co-drivers, including Das and Arup, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the plates. The police detained them for further questioning, during which they confessed their intent to steal the items.

The investigation led to the identification of two additional accomplices, who were apprehended on Sunday. The arrested individuals revealed their involvement in the theft of two bikes from Maharajganj Bazar and the Bypass area of the capital on August 9 and 15. The bikes were reportedly intended for smuggling into Bangladesh but were kept hidden due to recent floods.

The police recovered the stolen bikes and seized the vehicle TR 01 AU 1558, which was used in the thefts. The case against the four thieves is being processed under specific legal sections, and further investigations are underway to uncover additional individuals involved in the crime.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer confirmed that the East Agartala police are actively pursuing leads to resolve the case and bring all involved parties to justice.
