GB introduces 3D digital Mammography for Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Agartala, 1st February 2024:  In a press conference held on Thursday, Dr. Asim Dey, Head of the Radiology Department at GB Hospital, unveiled the latest developments and expanded services offered by the department. The main referral hospital in the state is now providing round-the-clock radiology services, including CT Scan, MRI, Digital X-ray, Ultra Sonography, heart angiography, and CT scan of the heart.

Notably, the radiology department has significantly enhanced its MRI services. Previously limited to one session daily, MRI services are now extended until 10 pm, with emergency services available as well. Dr. Dey emphasized the importance of timely access to MRI services and how this extension aligns with the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare.

A groundbreaking addition to the radiology department in 2023 is the introduction of 3D digital mammography. Dr. Dey highlighted the significance of this advancement in the early detection of breast cancer. The state-of-the-art technology will play a crucial role in diagnosing and managing breast cancer cases more effectively.

During the press conference, MS Shankar Chakraborty and Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, Principal of Agartala Government Medical College, expressed their support for these advancements. They commended the hospital’s commitment to staying at the forefront of medical technology and providing the best possible care to the community.

The expanded services and technological upgrades in the Radiology Department of GB Hospital mark a significant step forward in improving healthcare accessibility and diagnostic capabilities in the region.
