Gold theft case: Third thief held, two still at large

Agartala, November 26: The East Agartala police have arrested another thief in connection with the gold robbery case that took place at Biplab Bhowmik’s house on Dhaleshwar No. 3 Road on November 12. The thief, identified as Bikram Das, was nabbed on Sunday after the police interrogated two other accused, Krishna and Jahangir Mia, who were arrested earlier.

The police recovered a gold stole and earrings from Bikram Das, which are worth lakhs of taka in the market. The police have not revealed the names of the two other thieves who are still absconding, citing the interest of the investigation. The police believe that the rest of the gold ornaments are with the fugitive thieves.

The officer-in-charge of the police station said that they are hopeful of catching the remaining thieves soon and recovering the stolen gold. He said that the police are working on various leads and clues to track them down. He also praised the police team for their swift and efficient action in solving the case.
