Agartala, 6th May 2025: A fresh controversy has erupted in Tripura after the state’s School Education Department directed schools to hold workshops on cow husbandry for students, raising concerns about the state’s educational priorities. Opposition leader and CPIM Politburo member Jitendra Chaudhury has strongly criticized the move, questioning the government’s focus amid an ongoing crisis in public education.
“Where is Tripura going?” Chaudhury asked, reacting to the directive. “Most government schools are facing a severe shortage of teachers, and students are being deprived of quality education. The recent results of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are proof of this crisis. Instead of addressing the issue, the government is now promoting cow husbandry workshops,” he alleged.
Chaudhury further accused the government of using schools as a platform for ideological indoctrination. “The Education Department has invited an organization called ‘Desi Govansh Rakshana Sambardhan Samiti’ to conduct these workshops. Looking at its name, it is evident that it is affiliated with the RSS,” he claimed.
“This is nothing but an organized attempt to brainwash children. The government is exploiting the sacred environment of schools to push its saffron ideology,” Chaudhury said, questioning the relevance of cow husbandry training in an educational setting.
