Government irresponsibility exposed at Bishalgarh

Agartala, 30th July 2024:  The government office at Bishalgarh has become a symbol of higher authority negligence and bureaucratic irresponsibility. Located on the Bishalgarh-Boxanagar main road, Ghanimara Tehsildar, the sole office serving this area has been operating on the whims of its officials.

“For quite some time now, the office opens or remains closed based on the Tehsildar’s wishes,” said a local resident who wished to remain anonymous. This erratic schedule has turned the office into a roadside spectacle, often seen closed by hundreds of daily commuters. Residents from surrounding areas such as Karaimura, Tebaria, Noapara, Ratnagar, Prabhurampur and others are forced to travel to this office daily for essential services, including income certificate verifications for students.

Media personnel responding to public outcry on Tuesday afternoon arrived at the Tehsildar office only to find it locked. When questioned, the Sub-Divisional Administrator at the Bishalgarh office claimed, “It might be closed today due to election work.” This response sparked further frustration among the public.

“How can an entire Tehsildar office shut down for election duties? Even without a Tehsildar, lower-level staff should keep the office open,” commented a frustrated local teacher. The issue of inadequate staffing is apparent, with only one Tehsildar managing the entire office. In their absence, whether due to special assignments or vacations, the office remains completely shut, leaving citizens without essential services.

Moreover, despite frequent closures, attendance records show daily marks, raising questions about accountability. “It’s the people’s misery when government services fail them. We need consistent service, not just excuses,” voiced another resident.

The situation in Bishalgarh highlights a significant gap in public service delivery, calling for immediate attention and remedial action from higher authorities.
