Agartala, 1st December 2025:    The week-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Ramakrishna Educational Institute commenced today with great enthusiasm at the school grounds in Kailashahar. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Tripura’s Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy, who formally declared the celebrations open.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including District Education Officer Prashanta Kilikdar, North Tripura Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R., Secretary of Kailashahar Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Girijananda Maharaj, Chairperson of Kailashahar Municipal Council Chapala Debroy, and Convener of the Celebration Committee Arun Saha, among others.

The ceremony began with floral tributes to the portraits of Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and the school’s founder Brajendra Debgupta. This was followed by the traditional lamp-lighting ritual. A vibrant choral performance by nearly 500 current and former students, along with teachers, added to the festive atmosphere.

In his welcome address, Headmaster and Chairman of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration Committee Asim Chakraborty reflected on the institution’s rich legacy. He noted that the school, once a boys’ institution, was transformed into a combined English-medium school in 2021, thanks to the efforts of the District Education Officer and the Municipal Chairperson. Expressing concern over the dilapidated condition of the old school building in an earthquake-prone zone, he welcomed the government’s decision to begin construction of a new building and extended gratitude to Minister Tinku Roy and the Chief Minister.

Speaking at the event, Minister Tinku Roy lauded the tireless efforts of teachers, alumni, and committee members in organizing the jubilee. He emphasized the pride associated with the school’s 75-year journey and highlighted the strides made in modern education, including smart classrooms, skill-based learning, and infrastructure development. Roy announced that the Tripura government has sanctioned Rs 750 crore for school infrastructure development during the 2024–25 and 2025–26 fiscal years, with Rs 8.5 crore allocated specifically for the new building of Ramakrishna Educational Institute.

Other speakers also praised the institution’s contribution to education and society, underscoring its role in shaping generations of students and upholding the values of the Ramakrishna Mission.
