Government  to open Maitri Setu soon

Agartala, 2nd May 2023:   The Maitri Setu on river feni in Sabroom is all set to open soon, said. Government official.Sources from state government said that due to the efforts of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, the connectivity in the state has gain momentum and a result of tireless efforts of the Chief Minister the Maitri Setu over river feni in Sabroom is all set to open soon.

On June 6, 2015, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the foundation stone of the Maitri Setu. Around Rs133 crores have been spent on this project.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 9th March or 2021 inaugurated ‘Maitri Setu’.

Not only Maitri Setu but also the construction work of passenger terminal building has almost in the verge of end and would soon operationalize.

The development came during the visit of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in New Delhi where he has laid emphasis on the opening of Maitri Setu and passenger terminal building which will eventually boost the connectivity as well as will help is growing the economy of the state.

The 1.9 Km long bridge joins Sabroom in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh. It is poised to herald a new chapter for trade and people to people movement between India and Bangladesh.
