Government  working round the clock to assist flood victims: CM

Agartala, 23rd August 2024 :  Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that the state government is working tirelessly and doing everything necessary to support people in distress during the flood situation.

In the morning, Dr. Saha boarded an MI-17 helicopter at MBB Airport to head to Gomati District and South Tripura to assess the flood-hit regions. Today, Dr Saha conducted aerial survey of flood-affected areas including Shantirbazar, Belonia, Matabari, Melaghar, Charilam, Bishalgarh, Amarpur, Karbook and Agartala by air.

Dr. Saha also visited the relief camps at Khilpara Higher Secondary School and Khilpara Market Shed in Gomati District to review the management of the camps. Later, he visited banks of the Laugang and Muhuri rivers and also inspected one relief camp set up at West Bokafa XII School in Santirbazar.

Later, Dr. Saha told reporters that he has been visiting the flood-affected areas as well as the relief camps.”Ministers and MLAs are also visiting the affected areas. We are doing everything possible. Our state government is fully engaged. The Central government has been very supportive. I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their assistance. They have provided us with everything we asked for, including flood relief and rescue support,” said Dr. Saha.

He added that additional NDRF teams, helicopters, and boats have been deployed, and food packets are being distributed among the flood-affected people.”We are doing everything needed for those in distress. I have also received reports that many people have lost important documents due to the floods. There is no need to worry; I have instructed the officials to assist people in this matter,” he said.During the visit, higher officials of Tripura government also accompanied Dr Saha.
