Agartala, 20th November 2023: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy, on Monday, directed officials of the Rural Development Department to identify impoverished individuals and prioritize their overall development.
Governor Reddy chaired a meeting with the Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Sandeep R Rathore, the Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Abhishek Singh, and the Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav.
During the meeting, the Governor inquired about the various projects and programs of the Rural Development Department and sought updates on the progress of project implementation. He urged the Secretary and other officials to identify people in rural areas living in poverty and prioritize their comprehensive development.
“In the meeting, the Governor directed the swift completion of house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Emphasis was also placed on enhancing road connectivity in villages that are yet to be connected. The Governor emphasized identifying at least one village and encouraging its residents to participate in various income-based programs,” a source close to the Governor said.
Abhishek Singh, the Secretary of the Urban Development Department, provided the Governor with information about the department’s various activities, while Commissioner of AMC Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav briefed the Governor on the developmental programs of the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Also present in the meeting were Governor’s Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission CEO Dr. Brahmit Kaur, Panchayat Office Director Debananda Reang, Rural Development Office Chief Engineer Swapan Kumar Das, Mission Director of NULM, and other officials.
