Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu urges officials to work for public welfare and development in South district

Agartala,  29th February 2024 : Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu today exhorted the government officers and employees of South Tripura district to work for the welfare of the public and ensure timely completion of development projects. He was addressing an exchange meeting with the district and sub-divisional level officers at Belonia Circuit House.

The Governor said that the officers should do significant work in their career that would make a lasting impact on the lives of the villagers. He said that the officers should strive to provide basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, and roads to the rural areas. He also asked them to monitor the progress and quality of the development works and deliver the benefits to the people quickly.

The interaction meeting was attended by District Magistrate Saju Waheed A, Secretary to Governor UK Chakma, Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Belonia, Santirbazar and Sabroom sub-divisions and Block Development Officers of 8 Blocks of the South Tripura district.

The Governor also emphasized on making the people self-employed and skilled through advanced training and modern machinery in various sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, fruit growing, cottage industry etc. He said that these sectors have huge potential to generate income and employment for the rural population.

He also urged the officials to take a more active role in curbing child marriage and making Tripura drug free. He said that these social evils are detrimental to the health and development of the society. He thanked the officers for their remarkable work in preventing child marriage, increasing food production and de-addicting the youth.

Later, the Governor visited the Chabi Tilla Model Village at Bharatchandranagar Rook, where he interacted with the villagers and inquired about the implementation of various schemes of the central and state governments in the area. He appreciated the efforts of the villagers in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in the village.

He also visited the pig farms of Mamta Das Munda and Jaga Munda, who have started this venture with the support of the government. He praised their initiative and encouraged them to expand their business. He also witnessed a cultural program performed by the tribals of Chabi Tilla village in his honour.

The Governor also visited some of the houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and expressed satisfaction over the quality and design of the houses. He said that the scheme aims to provide affordable and dignified housing to the poor and needy.

The Governor then visited the Munda Basti Border Outpost, where he was welcomed by the Commandant of the 43rd Battalion of the Border Security Force. He climbed the watch tower and inspected the border area. He lauded the role of the BSF in guarding the international border and maintaining peace and security. He also spoke to the media and said that he was impressed by the model village and the work of the BSF. He said that he would visit other districts of Tripura soon and review the development works and the law and order situation.
