Agartala, September 14: Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu stressed the need for vigilance against drug abuse and child marriage while attending the 150th anniversary celebration of Holy Cross priest Father Basil Moreo’s heavenly ascension at Holy Cross School, Kathalcherra on Saturday.
Addressing students and guests, the Governor emphasized the importance of maintaining awareness of social issues. “Students must not only focus on their studies but also keep an eye on what is happening around them,” he remarked. “Drug addiction is a growing menace, and it is crucial that steps are taken to prevent child marriage. Everyone has a role in ensuring such practices do not take place.”
The Governor received a ceremonial guard of honor from the district police upon his arrival. Students from the school escorted him to the event venue with great fanfare.
Before the main event, Governor Nallu inaugurated a newly constructed paved building for Nallu Vidyalaya. Dignitaries present at the ceremony included MLA Paul Dangshu, TTAADC Executive Member Dolly Reang, District Additional District Magistrate Subrata Kumar Das, and Longharai Valley SDM Uttam Kumar Bhowmik among others.
During the celebration, Governor Nallu unveiled the school’s magazine and praised the students for their cultural performances. “These programs reflect the rich heritage of Tripura and the unity of different states,” he noted, commending the students for their creativity and dedication.
The anniversary event marked a significant day for the school and the community, with the governor’s message underscoring the need for continued social awareness.
