Agartala, 4th February 2026 : The Tripura government has issued strict instructions directing all state government offices, undertakings and organizations to function normally on February 12, 2026, the day on which a nation-wide general strike has been called by the All-India State Government Employees’ Federation.
According to an official memorandum issued by the General Administration (AR) Department, all government employees and employees of state-run undertakings are expected to report for duty and perform their work as usual on the day of the strike. Any violation of the directive will be viewed seriously by the government, the memorandum warned.
The All-India State Government Employees’ Federation has called for a one-day strike to press for various demands, including regularization of contractual employees and an end to outsourced and daily-wage employment. In Tripura, the Tripura Employees’ Coordination Committee (H.B. Road) has also appealed to state employees and teachers to participate in the strike.
Despite these calls, the state government has reiterated its stand that public services must not be disrupted. The memorandum further directed all Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special Secretaries and Heads of Departments to circulate the instructions among employees under their administrative control.
Departments have been asked to submit a report on employee attendance in their respective offices, undertakings and organizations on February 12. The attendance report must be sent to the General Administration (AR) Department via email or post by noon on the same day.
The memorandum was signed by Under Secretary N.R. Debbarma on behalf of the Government of Tripura.
