Agartala, 11th August 2026: The Tripura government has stepped up efforts to ensure the timely completion of tourism development projects and improve modern facilities for visitors at major historical and natural destinations across the state.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this on Tuesday while presiding over the 40th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) at the Secretariat.
During the meeting, Chowdhury reviewed the progress of several ongoing tourism projects, including the Matabari Circuit Project, Amarsagar Lake and Dumbur Reservoir. He also took stock of plans to set up floating restaurants at Neermahal and Chobimura, aimed at offering tourists improved amenities and a more engaging travel experience.
The minister also reviewed the construction and renovation of tourist lodges at various locations across the state. He stressed the importance of completing all development works within the stipulated timeframe so that visitors can access quality, comfortable and modern facilities at tourist destinations.
Chowdhury also sought a detailed assessment of the current financial position of the TTDC, including its income and expenditure, and reviewed the corporation’s overall financial management.
Tourism Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma and Director Prashant Badal Negi briefed the minister on the progress made in implementing decisions taken at the 39th meeting of the TTDC Board of Directors. They also apprised him of ongoing development activities and the corporation’s financial position.
Finance Department Secretary PK Goel, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests RK Samal, Chief Architect of the Public Works Department Anup Kumar Das, Deputy Secretary of the Home Department Hena Debbarma and other senior officials attended the meeting.
The government said the ongoing initiatives are aimed at strengthening Tripura’s tourism infrastructure, upgrading visitor amenities and creating a more comfortable and attractive experience for tourists at the state’s prominent destinations.
