Agartala, 26th November 2025: On the fifth anniversary of the historic farmers’ movement in Delhi, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for protest programs across all state capitals on November 26, demanding the fulfillment of promises made after the repeal of the three controversial farm laws.
As part of this nationwide call, the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), a key constituent of SKM organized a protest meeting today at Battala in Agartala.
The meeting was addressed by Asit Mondal, Office Secretary of the AIKS Central Committee, who alleged that while the central government withdrew the three farm laws following the Delhi agitation, none of the other assurances given to farmers have been implemented.
Mondal highlighted several unfulfilled demands, including: Legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops; Withdrawal of the Electricity Act, 2020; Control of rising prices of agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides; Regulation of irrigation electricity and diesel costs; Year-round employment for agricultural laborers; and Pension for farmers and farm workers above 60 years of age.
He further warned that new laws introduced under the guise of regulating agricultural markets could prove even more harmful to farmers. Stressing the need for a stronger nationwide farmers’ movement, Mondal urged farmers and agricultural workers across political lines to unite in the struggle.
The protest meeting was conducted by Subrata Chakraborty, State Secretary of the organization.
