Govt places IAS officer Abhisek Chandra on compulsory waiting amid allegations of irregularities

Agartala, 25th August 2025:  Tripura Government has placed Shri Abhisek Chandra, IAS, Special Secretary of the Planning (Statistics) Department, on compulsory waiting for posting with immediate effect and until further orders.

According to an official notification, the charge of the Planning (Statistics) Department has been handed over to Shri L.T. Darlong, Secretary, Planning & Coordination and other Departments, as an additional responsibility.

The order further states that Chandra’s pay and allowances during the compulsory waiting period will be drawn and disbursed by the General Administration (SA) Department.Though the notification does not mention any reason behind the move, government sources indicated that Chandra has allegedly been involved in certain irregularities and illegal activities, which may have led to the decision.
