Agartala, 26th June 2024: The Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) Minister, Sudhangshu Das, announced on Wednesday that the state government has initiated efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in fodder production.
“Measures have been put in place to ensure the state becomes self-reliant in fodder production. Animal husbandry is crucial for the rural economy’s development. The state government is implementing various strategies to enhance livestock development and promote animal husbandry welfare,” stated Minister Das.
He highlighted that beyond providing employment, animal husbandry can empower rural communities to achieve self-reliance. Minister Das made these comments during the inauguration of the newly constructed paved building of the Animal Hospital in the Belonia Sub-Division of South District.
He noted that rural families dependent on animal rearing are being encouraged to increase their livestock. “To support this, the Chief Minister Animal Welfare Scheme has been introduced. The state is facilitating training and loans for rural youth to create employment opportunities and promote self-reliance,” he added.
The Minister also mentioned that the government is developing plans to boost milk, egg, and meat production in the state. “To achieve this, efforts are underway to enhance animal protection, disease prevention, and treatment systems. Advanced infrastructure is being developed, and mobile ambulance services have been introduced to provide better treatment for livestock,” he concluded.
