Agartala, 26th June 2024: Tripura Police arrested two individuals on Wednesday and confiscated heroin valued at Rs 2 crore in Dharmanagar Sub-division, North District of Tripura.
North District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty informed reporters that they received a tip-off about heroin being smuggled from Mizoram to Tripura.
“Acting on secret information, we intercepted a vehicle at Dharmanagar. Upon searching the vehicle, we discovered 17 pouches containing over 200 grams of heroin, with a market value exceeding Rs 2 crore,” stated the SP.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Javed Ali (30) and Joydul Hossain (30), both residents of Boxanagar in Sepahijala district. “We have seized the vehicle. Preliminary investigations revealed that the heroin was brought from Mizoram to be smuggled into Khowai,” Chakraborty added.
