Agartala, 11th September 2023: In a disheartening incident of online fraud, Asim Bhowmik, a dedicated government teacher residing in Dakshin Charilam No. 6 Colony, became the latest victim of deceptive online practices. Bhowmik, who is a teacher fell prey to a scam while attempting to purchase a batting pad for his seventh-grade son, Ayush Bhowmik, through an online platform on August 28.
The selected item, priced at 1600 rupees, was expected to arrive promptly. However, to Bhowmik’s dismay, on September 6, the package was delivered, but it contained batting gloves with a significantly lower value of 800 rupees.
Swiftly taking action, Asim Bhowmik reached out to the online shopping platform, Flip Card, reporting the erroneous delivery and requesting a resolution. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts to communicate the issue, on September 10, Bhowmik received a message indicating that his request had been rejected.
Frustrated and determined to combat the growing menace of online fraud, Asim Bhowmik made a courageous stand in front of the media on Monday morning. He spoke passionately about the pervasive impact of online scams on individuals and urged for stronger measures to protect consumers. Expressing his resolve, Bhowmik declared his intention to approach the consumer court seeking justice against the online shopping company responsible for the fraudulent transaction. He emphasized the urgent need for stricter regulations to safeguard the interests of online shoppers and hold deceptive vendors accountable for their actions.
