Agartala, October 18, 2023: Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das announced today that the government has plans to establish a Fish Sale Counter at 25 locations across the state, allowing people to purchase fish at a more affordable price.
He further explained that these fish selling centers will be set up in areas where superintendent fishery complexes are already present.
“We anticipate selling around 8 thousand kilograms of fish, comprising three to four different varieties, at these centers,” he stated. During a press conference, Minister Das also mentioned his visit to Delhi on October 11, where he met with the Union Minister of Fisheries, ARDD. They discussed strategies to enhance the state’s fisheries production.
“The main focus of our discussion was the renovation of the Fishery Training Center in Udaipur and the establishment of a Regional Training Institution. Such training facilities would greatly benefit the North East region. To facilitate this, a project with a budget of 50 crores and 8 lakh rupees has been proposed to the Union Minister. Additionally, a project of 11.9 crore rupees has been put forth to further increase fish production. Lastly, a project with a budget of Rs. 25 crore has been submitted to augment fish production in abandoned ponds within the state,” he elaborated.
